No one is unaffected by the rise in gas prices. The increased cost at the gas pump has many families needing to tighten their budgets. To keep gas expenditure low, you need to get more miles for your money. To do this there are two options; buy a second hand vauxhall or other model which does not guzzle gas, or improve your driving technique.

You’ll use less gas if you keep your automobile maintained and healthy. Keep the tyres at their proper rate of inflation. Deflated tyres use more petrol than properly inflated ones. Keep your air filter checked whenever the oil is changed. Having a clean air filter also affects gas mileage. Your vehicle will last longer too if it is kept in good order. With people watching their budgets more closely, they tend to drive their cars for longer periods of time.

When your driving habits are correct you’ll also use less gas. The amount of gas the car uses can be effected by driving habits that we do all the time. Driving slower is the best way to keep petrol costs down. Driving over the speed limit is a waste of fuel. And of course you and other drivers will be safer on the road. Don’t accelerate too swiftly either. Rapid acceleration greatly decreases gas mileage. Likewise, braking very quickly uses more fuel than steady braking. Don’t brake harshly if you want to use less fuel. Excessive breaking or riding the break is often a habit that young drivers get into, because of lack of confidence. Teaching new drivers not to do this will save them petrol money.

For a healthier body and a healthier wallet you should cut down the amount of miles you do altogether. Walk or ride a cycle if you do not travel far. Taking the automobile out less for jobs like shopping and posting mail will cut down on your running costs. You’ll spend so much less on fuel if you make these changes.
